I am a certified Project Manager. (PMP) In-between my project work, I create messages and expressions, mostly in clay. Although, I have been called upon to create message in other, more mainstream and traditional media.
Each month, I create a body of work that includes various designs. Each body of work is an iteration of the previous body of work. This allows me to see change and progress as I continually practice what I learn.
I can't believe it's been over four years since I put more focus into my creative life.
Many things have changed. The world has evolved and I continue to process my experiences through my creative work. My work is moving towards a representation of duality. There seems to be two perceptions of reality being presented to us. I am simply expressing that revelation in my creative work.
I also enjoy the opportunity to share my creative process through my monthly "newsletters". The are actually more stories of my experience with the creative process. If you're not getting my "newsletter", you can sign up if you scroll to the bottom of this home page.
Now, as I move forward, I am focusing on ways to help small businesses share their brand and their messages with their customers. I work with project sponsors to communicate their mission and brand in clay. More importantly, I have realized the healing that comes through the creative process!
Are your coffee mugs safe to microwave? Yes.
Is your handmade pottery dishwasher safe? Yes.
Do you bake your pottery in your oven? No. (I really do get that question)
My handmade pottery is glazed with non-toxic glazes fired to about 2250º Fahrenheit.

As a young man, I was fortunate to be accepted to the Tam O'Shanter art classes in Pittsburgh, PA taught by the now famous Joseph C. Fitzpatrick. That was a great motivation for my always present, always evolving creative vocation. Handmade coffee mugs weren't even on my radar!
I work in clay. Sometimes that takes me to oils and paper. For me, the creative process has no boundaries, as shared in the famous quote by the character "Carl" in the movie Wall Street:
"Create, instead of living off the buying and selling of others"
So, I create. That takes me places most folks don't often go.
Sometimes when I stop and think about my inspiration I realize Andy Warhol is at the top of that list. My uncle Steve was classmates with him in the 1940's at Carnegie Tech. He used to tell me Andy stories when I was younger. Andy found a way to keep his foot in the commercial world while still creating. I think he was a Brilliant man.
Andy Warhol had a remarkable way of incorporating his creative work into the commercial world. Have you ever seen the illustrations he did for Tiffanys? Andy ran into my uncle in the 1980s somewhere in mid town Manhattan. He remembered my uncle from classes at Carnegie Tech in the late 40s. He said "Steve, good to see you. Look me up some time. I'm in the phone book!" I wonder if Andy Warhol ever illustrated coffee mugs?
